Experience one of Canada’s premiere ice carving festivals in the heart of Old Strathcona! The Boardwalk Ice on Whyte Festival is an award-winning winter festival with elaborate ice carvings by world renowned local and international artists. Expect entertainment, winter activities and fun for the whole family. This year the festival runs Thursdays - Sundays, January 25-28 & February 1-4 at the corner of Gateway Blvd. and Whyte Avenue.

What's happening at the festival?

  • International Ice Carving Competition – one of three in Canada and this year they are protected from the elements in a giant tent.
  • Ice Carving lessons for kids and adults.
  • An Ice Bar featuring locally crafted beverages by Situation Brewing, Rig Hand Craft Distillery, Strathcona Spirits and Hansen Distillery.
  • Painting Parties at Artelier Studio Presented by the Paint Spot.
  • Music presented by Blues on Whyte.
  • Other amazing music, theatre, art, food, beverages and special activities throughout Old Strathcona during the festival.
